What If Today Were Your Last Day?

So as we previously discussed, Spark Ideas are short and easy business tips that have “sparked” me to make an incredible mind shift, improving my business for the better.

What if today were your last day? Would you be happy with what you’ve achieved? This is such a heavy question, but yet I know so many of us let our thoughts wander down this road. We were each given such amazing talents, with a whole world waiting for us to share it. So there it is – that spark!

This week’s Spark Idea was inspired by the thought of how precious life can really be. How often do you find yourself putting things off or saying, “There’s always next time!” We try to think of a million reasons why we aren’t ready yet, or how we don’t have the right tools and experience yet. These are all just excuses that mask our actual fear! Rather than stepping out from behind our mostly weak excuses, we just brush it off and extend our leap of faith until we are one day ready.

We’re so good at fooling ourselves into thinking that we have all the time in the world, when in fact we don’t know how much of it we actually even have. Things can change in an instance, without warning, leaving you with nothing but regrets. Now this does not mean that you shouldn’t take the needed time to plan and ready your business correctly – of course you should do your due diligence to ensure that you are still striving for success. However, if you are just making excuses as to why you aren’t yet ready, then you have to do some re-evaluation of yourself!

Time is not the only factor to consider; postponing your dreams or your goals only sets you back even further than you were when you first started. How many followers could you have gained if you had launched your blog a month earlier? Or how many products could you have sold if you set up your store when you first thought of the idea? Cash money! The difference will seriously make you hit yourself!

When starting out there are always going to be too many things to do and not enough money to do it with – but that should not stop you! When working towards your dreams, you will have to establish some milestones in your plan, giving yourself smaller and more reachable actions to carry out. As you break down these big goals into simpler steps, you can begin to slowly chip away at that mountain that seems to be glaring you in the face.

Here are a few tips to help you overcome those classic postponement obstacles:

  1. Clarify your dream
  2. Establish an action plan with reachable milestones
  3. Identify the top 5 obstacles preventing you from starting
  4. Create an action plan to eliminate each obstacle, one-by-one
  5. Take the first step towards your dream, however small it may be!

Hope you were motivated to get going with your dream plan and that you will take the challenge this week and complete the five steps we’ve discussed. I trust that one day you will be that superstar, successful woman who makes everyone wonder how she does it! So continue to remind yourself to live as if today were your last day.

Now I’d love to hear from YOU!
